Keep it public

Great news – the Government has backed down on the privatisation of Goulburn Hospital – for now.

In March, 2015, during the state election campaign, Health Minister Jillian Skinner committed $120 million for a major redevelopment of the hospital.

In September 2016, the Baird Government announced that the upgrade would be handed to a private operator in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

On October 20 they backed down from this.

But the closure of Bourke Street health facility is still slated for 2017.

And we want to make sure that no degree of privatisation is brought back as an option during the redevelopment.

Keeping our Goulburn Hospital completely public is the only way to ensure that, irrespective of their ability to pay, patients will be provided quality health care.
