Keep it public Maitland

The new hospital proposed for Maitland should be a truly public hospital which puts patients before profits.

Forty hectares of Crown land at Metford has been allocated for the new Lower Hunter Hospital (to replace Maitland Hospital), a site six times larger than the existing hospital. The Baird Government has announced that the new hospital will be handed to a private operator in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

This has been done with no consultation and we fear patients and staff will be worse off under a public-private partnership model.

A PPP is not a true public hospital. It is an arrangement that gives a profit-seeking entity control over public services. This is the wrong path for Australia.

We object to profits being made from people’s health.

Take action now to support keeping our Maitland hospital public.
